September Haiku Challenge – Week 2
Flourish – Sept 5
With one last flourish
rainbows and roses announce
summer is over.
Kiss – Sept 6
Wasp kissing windfall.
Smoke rises. Birds flock. ‘Too late’,
they cry, autumn comes.
Kiss II – Sept 6
He touched her shoulder.
Snowflakes settled around them.
The world stopped. They kissed.
Hypnotic – Sept 7
cooing in the trees – listen:
we’ve slept twenty years.
Hidden – Sept 8
hunted by the autumn clouds
until dawn takes her.
Yearn (The human condition?) – Sept 9
We yearn for freedom
even as we forge our chains;
best done together?
Magic – Sept 10
At summer’s ending
leaves fall, clearing the air
for winter’s magic.
Universal Rain (any subject) – Sept 11
as the rain falls everywhere
wondering what next?
These are all for haiku heights September challenge, and I’m adding to this post daily during each week. The themes are fixed, which makes it very tough, but satisfying. I’m happiest with the willow-hidden moon haiku above – this was inspired by the prompt plus seeing the moon behind a willow tree on Thursday evening, in a stormy autumn sky.
gorgeous haiku. My roses have not been up to scratch this year.
A great haiku.
Summer always likes to make a grand exit, just to remind us what we can look forward to over the winter months.
Rainbows and roses – what a wonderful thought, with winter to look forward to.
True. Here, it’s a couple days worth of green with an enhanced lushness…then the leaves change & fall.
Beautiful!! We are waiting for the thunder- rain for monsoon to exit and maybe we can chance upon that rainbow too!!
I can almost see the bowing and curtseying…good words can stoke the imagination
The end of summer–I can’t say I’m sorry to see it go. Cooler weather is most welcome–and I’m sure there’ll be a rainbow or two along the way.
Things That Flourish Here and Here and Here
Ahhh, what a lovely image to imagine … however, in Central TX we have had neither — rainbows or flourishing roses!!!
WOW….What beautiful pictures come to mind…from the end of the summer…to the despair of autumn…to the ones in love….Brilliant…
Liked what you did with the prompt ‘Kiss’and some great imagery created!! Nice feel to the haiku!!
You’ve created some terrific imagery with each of these.
I like the touches of nature and seasons in your haikus….
The world stopped when they kissed… sweet ~
#5 is…. well when I finished it I let out a huge sigh, it just did that to me.
#6 is awesome as well love the earthy feel it has very true to Haiku form with a certain Zen to it!
liked the pigeons, 20 years is a looonnnggg time!
Ah – but 20 years ago I was young, and the pigeons got me too soon….!
Oh loved your haiku for yearn wonderfully emotional!
the changing of seasons is magical I enjoyed this Haiku!
Amazing how a single touch can stop the world!
Kisses here and here and here
Hypnotic pigeons cooing for eons, perhaps.
Nice dedication to Pigeons!! Have done a few myself some time back!!
An you’re just now waking up??? 🙂
That was supposed to be “and.”
I loved the kissing snowflakes.
Oh sometimes I feel I have been asleep all my life. Nice Haiku. Really they are all wonderful.
rainbows and roses.. brillaint! 🙂 welcoming the monsoon..
A kiss truly from nature 🙂
I liked ‘Hidden’ immensely!! A perfect Haiku!! …and stimulating another
Dawn takes her to hide
Till day is done, night reclaims
Adopts docile Moon
Have a great day!! 🙂
Hidden – Belting imagery here, and that last line ‘until dawn takes her’ really makes it for me.
Anything Moony..and I find it exciting…thank you… for such delight..
Where was it hidden,
Finally I find it here,
Spirit of Haiku..
My Lady Haiku,
though the willows hid the moon
dawn destroyed their plan.
Hidden things here and here and here
Beautifully done. Autumn isn’t quite here though. Let a dreamer dream that summer still lingers.
maybe that yearning for freedom isn’t balanced without self captivity?
twenty years.. or maybe even more…
I’m with you on yearning for freedom!
Nice to see every season change, to bring in its own magic and display majestically!!
Love the magic of season changing…Though I must say I cringe when it is winter ~
I never thought of the leaves clearing the air for winter’s magic before. Lovely image!
Morning Magic here
the hidden haiku is indeed perfect.. loved it! 🙂
We have reached the end of rains and then it starts again, wondering why and when next I’ll be caught unawares!!
