About
Poetry diary
I’m based near Warwick in central England and have enjoyed (and am still enjoying) an eclectic career.
For me life is about creativity and making a difference, and there are many ways to do this. I dislike finding boundaries in the wrong places.
I’ve written poetry since I was 20. Some is very personal, because this is how it started many years ago – sometimes its a bit more abstract and experimental. I do it because I enjoy it.
To contact me please post a comment below and I’ll get back to you.

It is good to write because that is what must be done for ourselves. It is good to share because that’s our choice.
So welcome to this blogging/writing world.
Thanks Neil.
Poetry is for me a particularly personal kind of writing – longer pieces of prose have always been enjoyable too, but somehow more words confuse the message and relationship with the reader I think (or maybe I’m just no good at it!).
I like your comment about sharing too.
Your right, sharing your poetry is fun! Thanks for sharing with us!
Keep writing…
Inhale…exhale…create!
My journey is like yours but I have repressed my writing for years. I finally found the courage to start writing; now I am writing stories, poems and what not. I found it very therapeutic and satisfying, and funnily enough I have made friends in the poetry community. They encouraged me, which is important when you are trying to express yourself after years of repressing it.
If you like to share your writing, you might want to link up with us, DVerse Pubs – we linked up starting every Tues, Thurs and Sat starting 3pm EST. Some of us came from One Stop Poetry which recently ended its run after one year. Here is our link about our activities: http://dversepoets.com/this-is-us/
You have a great blog here ~
I too repressed my writing for years and when I did write it was secretly. I found that sharing and receiving comments is very encouraging and spurs me on to write more. It’s also a good motivator to improve. I love your blog. Keep on writing 🙂
Hi Matthew, I’m glad you decided to share your poetry with us, as I’m enjoying exploring your blog.
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit mine, and for commenting on my poem, “Tears Raining on the Waves” – much appreciated. ~ Julie 🙂
Congrats. on winning MP mag competition. Great poem.
Nominated you for an award… Super Sweet Blogging Award: http://bluegirlpoems.wordpress.com/2012/09/20/super-sweet-blogging-award/
Thank you Blue Girl! I appreciate it. I’ll reciprocate and do my nominations tomorrow though, because it’s a tad late here…!
Hi Matthew, as I cannot find an email address on this website to contact you directly I thought I’d leave a comment here!
I am a Masters student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying composition and I would like to set your poem featuring Dunnottar Castle to music to use as part of a workshop I would like to attend in November. My use of your poetry would be not for profit or commercial use, purely artistic and possibly not for public performance (If you do not want it!).
I chose your poetry as I like its rhythm and imagery and the language I think would suit being set to music.
Here is a link to the workshop so you can see a little more about it,

Best,
Michael.
“let go of a few assumptions and start again from first principles…”
You take after the other poet then, Keats 🙂
Awesome! I hope you will consider sharing a poem for my site, http://www.pilgrimspoem.com
