The possibility of you
Even the possibility of you
is gone now. We dreamt of love together
in the snow. You kissed me. I felt we knew
a secret pathway – each to another,
long lost and sought. Others saw, quietly;
speaking only with their eyes, and smiling.
I liked that. So gently told and softly,
your words flowed, and heart ranged, always yearning.
I was naïve. Ambition cannot stop
unsettled pasts, chasing wakes, catching up,
and unvoiced fears rise at last to the top;
I just wish the end had not been so abrupt.
You have made sure. The possibility
of you, is gone now.

Mmmm. Quite powerful in the quality of sadness. I got a little teary the first time through.
Sorry! The first line came to me this morning when I woke up – it was a helpful poem to write. Thanks for responding too.
That’s okay! It’s a good thing, both the making me react that way and being helpful. Your line break after that first line is perfect.
The first line really grabbed me. It compelled me to reel back in time searching for that moment in which I too, can relate. Well said!
of you, is gone now. <——Whew!!!! This line took me away, back to that someone so full of possibility and promise that somehow faded into nothingness…..WONDERFUL!
I liked this very much. A powerfully emotional piece of writing, with a definite end, sadly…….
this one hit me deep. thank you so much for sharing!
