New Year 2017

This New Year starts with rain,
each raindrop concentrating space
and time into a sphere;
a perfect, silent world that falls,
and dampens all that’s gone before.
And out of darkness, lights
(etched faces on surrounding stones,
all passion-drained and thin)
draw all of last year’s energy
to promise a renewing sun.

It is nice to start with rain and end with sun.
Beautiful imagery in this, with the sphere and the play of dark and light.
Love that there is a sun somewhere behind the rain,
I loved the first stanza greatly, the second lost me. But I reread the first with great pleasure. Thank you
