Winter pigeons
by poetrydiary
In winter treetops,
solitary pigeons wait
for reasons to coo.

They have been watching me walk to work all week…I’ll keep you posted on developments!

Don’t we all wait and watch? Not only have you presented imagery (unique imagery) for us to see but also that sense of anticipation of spring, all packaged neatly into so few words. Wonderful.
This is brilliant – you’ll need to watch them, though!
Very well done. Birds make wonderful subjects for short verse. Hmm, long verse too. 😉
Simple yet vivid capture…can’t wait to coo too ~
wow succinct…and def evoke feeling in that last line…well played…
Lovely haiku. David’s right- you will have to watch them or they will surely get carried away. Whatever you do don’t feed them. They’ll carry your roof away and run off all the other birds. Speaking from experience here!
ha..i’m waiting for a reason to coo as well…smiles…spring is in the air…
Nice haiku. I can see those pigeons clearly. Thanks
I like the idea of the pigeons waiting for a reason to coo, like they’re consciously thinking about the season.
I loved the surprise of the last line – altogether a great word picture
They will coo won’t they! The echo of their peaceful sound resonates quite well after the poem is read. Haiku do that and you capture their spirit quite well in this poem.
lovely imagery here..I can really visualise them sitting up there in the tree!
Exquisite haiku. I spend winter in the California desert and just this week both doves and mockingbirds have begun to accompany me with their song as I walk the dogs in early morning. Serenity!
Tee hee.. visual too. 🙂
HAHAH this really amused me and made me smile. :] Thanks :] Bless you. xx
